Jim Gor­don and Dar­ren Park­man, stars of the pop­u­lar Cana­dian TV show, “The Travel Guys,” vis­ited Sum­ida Farm today with Chef Mavro. Farm owner David Sum­ida told the story of his multi-generational water­cress farm, showed hand-harvesting, and of course offered tastes fresh from the spring-fed field in Aiea, just out­side Hon­olulu. Chef Mavro invited The Travel Guys for din­ner. What’s on the menu? Sum­ida water­cress and dozens of other fresh Island ingre­di­ents. George Mavrotha­las­si­tis, aka Chef Mavro, is a found­ing mem­ber of Hawaii Regional Cui­sine and a pas­sion­ate advo­cate of farm-to-table menus.
